Senior Financial Analyst

Reports To: SVP Finance

   

 

Position Summary:

The role of Senior Financial Analyst will work closely with the Senior Vice President of Finance, and will own and manage all reporting functions. In addition there will be a focus on facilitating strategic initiatives and projects that enhance reporting and related analytics. The candidate will provide insights and recommendations to Senior Management on such initiatives, as well as develop business process improvements, explore automation of tasks and complete other ad hoc priorities designed to further the business.

 

 

 Location: Ontario/Toronto

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all internal reporting to ensure deadlines are met, with primary focus on credit risk, sales, broker and GL reporting
  • Preparation of monthly internal sales reporting, including territory reports, various product usage, brokerage performance, and other key KPI’s.
  • Preparation of monthly external sales reporting to brokers and other markets
  • Regular management of the database and queries that extract data from our internal system
  • Transfer of reporting capabilities into Analytics software
  • Prepares forecasts and analyzes trends
  • Calculations and reporting on monthly and quarter broker commissions
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, articulate, document and improve financial and business processes
  • Key stakeholder in many business-wide projects which may include: technology solutions, operational enhancements, financial forecasting and budgeting, revenue generating initiatives, expense savings and other strategic plans
  • This position is to be customer service oriented with strong communication skills, and interacts regularly with other FIRST Canada departments including sales, marketing, operations, credit and our US based parent
  • Ad hoc reporting and special projects as required

 

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities Required:

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of SAS Analytics software is strongly preferred
  • Database experience preferred
  • Able to easily communicate complex analytical details, depending on the audience
  • Sound knowledge of risk management
  • General knowledge of accounting and impacts to P&L
  • Analytical, problem solving and organizational aptitude
  • Excellent communication, verbal and written
  • Effective project management skills

Training/ Education/ Experience Qualifications:(Include licenses and certifications)

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in finance, business analysis and reporting
