The fourth Annual Insurance Business Canada Awards Gala took place at the Liberty Grand in Toronto on Thursday, November 28th, 2019. The Insurance Business Canada Awards inspire an industry fostered on leadership, service, innovation, support and principle, all of which have continuously driven the industry forward. For the first time since its inception, the event took place to a sold out crowd. Over 600 attendees from across Canada attended to celebrate the insurance industry’s successes and witness the live reveal of evening’s award winners.

Award for Lifetime Achievement Recipient – Bob Tisdale
We were proud to sponsor the FIRST Insurance Funding of Canada Award for Lifetime Achievement for the fourth straight year. This year, it was our distinct honour to present this esteemed award to Bob Tisdale, President and COO of Pembridge and Pafco Insurance companies.
Bob Tisdale has made substantial contributions to the insurance industry for more than 40 years. Throughout his career, he has remained dedicated to professionalism and education and has been quoted as saying “Education is the mortar that binds together the bricks of experience.” His long career in insurance began in 1978. Even back then, Bob showed a love of learning. For the past 20 years, he led Pembridge and Pafco as President and COO. Throughout this time, Bob continued his education, completing both his CIP and FCIP designations. He went on to complete a Certificate in Business Administration, a CRM, an MBA, a certificate in French-language skills and his ICD.D designation. Bob hasn’t just built a company or his career, he has built relationships and communities.
After 40 years of building a great team and company at Pembridge and Pafco, building relationships with brokers and other insurers, developing careers, and encouraging education, it is was our great honour to recognize Bob Tisdale as this year’s recipient of the FIRST Insurance Funding of Canada Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Celebrations continued as FIRST Canada proudly accepted the Insurance Industry Employer of Choice Award. FIRST Canada CEO, Stuart Bruce took to the stage to graciously accept the award on behalf of the company. “This particular award is one that as a leader of the business for the majority of the past 20 years, I am very proud of,” stated Mr. Bruce. “Our people are our greatest strength and building lasting relationships with our industry is integral to the success of our business. I am privileged to go to work every day with a fantastic team of payment professionals.”
FIRST Canada proud finalist of the Best Service Provider
FIRST Canada was also proud to be recognized as a finalist in the category of Best Service Provider. FIRST Canada received this esteemed recognition for their continuous commitment to providing world-class service and innovating insurance payments. FIRST Canada’s automation and integration solutions for the insurance industry have greatly improved the process for insureds and reduced the workload for industry partners.
